Privacy Practices

Your health information is personal, and we are committed to preserving the confidential health information created or maintained at our hospital. Your health information is important to our ability to provide you and your family with quality care, and to comply with laws that apply to all of your medical records.

We are required by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as well as South Dakota State law to maintain the privacy of your confidential health information, also referred to as your “protected health information” or “PHI”. We are also required to provide you a “Notice of Privacy Practices.” This notice is completed during your admission process and maintained in your medical record.
