Dr. Andrew Haputa, MD, is a dedicated general surgeon specializing in advanced laparoscopy and surgical endoscopy. With licensure from the State Medical Board of South Dakota and certification from the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Haputa brings expertise in advanced laparoscopic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, surgical endoscopy, and anti-reflux surgery. He obtained his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed his postgraduate training in general surgery at the University of Washington.

Dr. Haputa is actively involved in professional organizations such as the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. He has previously served as the National President for the Association of American Indian Physicians.

Dr. Haputa offers a range of general surgery treatments and procedures, including colonoscopy, diagnostic laparoscopy, upper endoscopy, and treatment for conditions such as gallbladder disease, appendectomy, abdominal hernia, colon diseases, gallstones, gastroparesis, gastrointestinal bleeding, acid reflux, abscess, and lesion removal.

His decision to practice in Sisseton/CDP stems from a profound appreciation for community. Dr. Haputa cherishes the sense of belonging and connection that comes with knowing one’s neighbors and being part of a close-knit community.

Dr. Haputa enjoys staying active outdoors and exercising. He looks forward to indulging in water activities in the area. He has an adult daughter and a dog named Usdi (which means “little one”).
